Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — the difference is noticeable in the best possible way. Freshly milled bread has a deeper, richer flavor because the flour still contains all the natural oils, aromas, and nutrients from the whole grain. You’ll taste subtle notes of nuttiness, sweetness, and earthiness that simply don’t exist in flour that’s been sitting on a shelf for months. The crumb tends to be softer and more tender, while the crust develops a beautifully complex aroma. Regular sourdough is delicious on its own, but when it’s made with freshly milled flour, the flavor becomes more vibrant and alive — a true reflection of the grain itself.

Yes, absolutely! However, the sourdough will be very dense and not have a lot of air pockets, which gives it that soft, fluffy, airy texture. I do eat 100% freshly milled flour sourdough bread because of its nutritional benefits, but people often find it too ‘healthy’ tasting!
Shoot me a message and I can make you 100% freshly milled flour sourdough bread : )

No. it’s important to note that my breads are not gluten‑free. They’re made from wheat, which naturally contains gluten, so they are not safe for anyone with celiac disease or a medically diagnosed gluten intolerance. If you’re unsure how your body responds to sourdough or freshly milled grains, it’s always best to check in with a healthcare professional who knows your specific needs.

Yes! Did you know that for a 500 gram loaf (regular sourdough size), there is anywhere between 60-65 grams of protein?
-
Absolutely — sourdough freezes wonderfully. Because of its natural acidity and long fermentation, it holds its texture and flavor far better than most breads. The best method is to slice the loaf first, place the slices in a freezer‑safe bag, and pull out only what you need. You can toast slices straight from the freezer, and they’ll taste just as fresh and delicious as the day you baked them. If you prefer to freeze the whole loaf, wrap it tightly and let it thaw at room temperature before enjoying.

Yes — I love getting creative with flavours. While my classic freshly milled sourdough is always available, I also rotate seasonal and specialty loaves depending on what’s inspiring me and what’s fresh in our local area. Some common flavours include: Jalapeno & Cheddar, walnut & cranberry, White & Black Chocolate (YUM!). If you have any special requests, don’t hesitate to message me !
